In Bydgoszcz (Poland) an algorithm decides in what category a person looking for work should be classified by the Labour Office. Based on the filling out of 24 stardard questions a classification follows. The unemployed person ends up in category 1, 2 or 3.
This profiling has a real impact. Category 1 means that one can look for work one’s self. Category 2 means that the Labour Office will offer support, either as an internship or a course or money to fund one’s own business. Category 3 means that one’s case is (near) hopeless and one will receive only minimum support by the Labour Office.
