Eric Horvitz of Microsoft Research proposes in a paper: “Instead of choosing to share or not to share certain information, a user would instead sign on to accept a certain amount of privacy risk: a 1 in 30,000 chance, for example, that their GPS data might be fed into real-time traffic analysis on any given day. Or a 1 in 100,000 chance that any given Internet search query might be logged and used.”
